I was going to ask if they were tent worms. When we were in TN, they called them "bag worms" I think.

Yeah they are tent caterpillars. Crap moths and a serious pest.... I think they r even toxic. Ever see foil wrapped around trees? It's tent caterpillar prevention or something.

Bagworms are different, but also another pest that needs to be destroyed.

Where I'm from we've always called them Tent Caterpillars. Also ours are black, and get fuzzy. They make those tents on the trees and eat off tender new limbs and lots of leafs. If a tree gets too many they will die from the caterpillars.

Yup but we call them web worms. I have no idea what the real name is. Mulberry trees get them bad.
Here is a link to them http://insects.tamu.edu/fieldguide/cimg314.html

up here they are on mainly wild friut trees...never seen them on mullberry ...also we see them very early in the year even before some other trees have leaves
bag worms attach pieces of the host plant to thoer bodies leaving only the front three legs and thorax and head out....of which they can pull in

It's a joke John...really
